I was at a grocery store last Saturday when I overheard two women ahead of me talking about the weather. Our weather had been snowy as of late, and it looked like a warming front was about to pass through our area. Patience, the realization of the stupidity of liberals, and simple amazement of ignorance, kept me from interrupting their conversation to tell them how STUPID and ANNOYING they presented themselves as. This was their conversation as I remember it.
Lady1(L1)- I hear there is some more snow on the way.
Lady2(L2)- Yeah, it's cold out and the rest of the country seems to have varying weather. Oohhh, how I hate cold.
L1- Well, remember that the earth is warming. No matter how cold it is we are affecting the climate and it's up to us to help save it.
L2- Exactly. You should see my hybrid Prius. It gets 45 miles to the gallon, plus is not polluting like trucks and especially the corporations you see uptown. I love to drive it around and show it off. It gets me so excited to know that I am saving the environment.
ME thinking((Eyes unblinking!)( Maybe I should switch lines))
L1- I hope that GM pulls through and stops making big trucks that pollute. Hopefully everybody will be driving hybrids in the future. We are so lucky to have an administration who realizes the danger that Al Gore pointed out in his movie. Everybody should play their part. I hope to buy a hybrid sometime when Obama's policies help recover the economy.
Me-(fists tighten)
L2- I know, right? Global Warming is happening. That is why the temperature have been warm to cold this winter. Look how it's affected our spring. We've had more snow here in the metro this spring than the winter.
L1- My neighbors husband drives this big pickup, Dodge I think, and I believe it's people like him who helped cause Global Warming. That record high of one day we had in January is proof that those trucks attribute to the earth's warming. But what's even worse is that they don't believe in Global Warming! Can you believe that?
L2- It's people like that who make me go crazy. They are insane not to believe it when it's been proved.
They changed subjects after that. After payment, I walked into the parking lot and saw both ladies admiring Lady 2's hybrid. She was gleaming like she had just saved the world. I'm sure these two ladies are good people, but their ignorance was astounding. I'm sure there are more people out there thinking the same thing. This whole green phase is NUTS! Green toilet paper, green cars, or the taxation of animals for "expelling CO2." We are paying Globull Warming or global cooling enthusiasts in labs to solve NOTHING. I'd bet if two scientists were studying the same thing, the person who puts (from the effect of global warming, or how it effects global warming) would get the money. For example: Polar bear dietary substances. Now: Global warmings' affects on the Polar Bear diet. As stupid as this sounds, it most likely would get you that grant. This whole thing cascaded down from Al Gore's insistence on remaining in the spotlight. I don't think it mattered one bit what Al Gore would do to remain in the spotlight, just as long as he was being noticed. And as ridiculous as he looks from our view, he is revered as a saint to those who believe his drivel. It's a new way of living, or in some cases, a religion. These people should learn we have no effect on the climate, but as global warming has become a political agenda and not a science anymore, these people may never change their thinking.
